Another benefit of the higher surface/volume ratio is the operating temperatures drop up to 33% which greatly improves durability.
Depending on the internal volume and carcass stiffness of the tire and what "PSI" feel desired will determine spacing of the balls. If you lube and load the balls with no spacing, it would tend to equal 16+ psi (more or less depending on how stiff or large the tire is), 1/2" gap 13-14 psi, 1" gap 10-12 psi, 1-1/2" gap 8-9 psi. How much life you get out of a set is greatly increased with the ability to be regenerated by adding additional balls, available separately.
